Horse Butt Leather Strop with Green Chromium Oxide Polishing Compound

Over 100 years, tough horse butt leather has been used to make the best razor strops. Horse butt leather is incredibly hard, tough, and durable, with natural silicates that abrade and polish steel. It has a higher silicate concentration than any other leather, making it the perfect material for stropping. This horse butt strop is designed to put a scary sharp edge on razors, knives, carving chisels, and woodworking tools. It features two distinct sides: a smooth hair side and a slightly rougher flesh side. The rough side is ideal for holding polishing compound and for initial stropping, while the smooth side is best for the final strop. Custom die cut to a size of 12 inches x 3 inches, with a thickness of 3/32 to 9/64 inch, this undyed leather strop may vary in color.

The Micro Fine Chromium Oxide polishing compound is specially formulated for use with leather strops to achieve a polished, mirror-edge on knives, carving chisels, and woodworking tools. Rather than removing metal, this compound polishes and refines the cutting edge, with a waxy consistency that adheres well to any substrate without powdering. It is applied by rubbing the bar evenly on the surface, with a little going a long way. With a particle size of 0.5 micron, the compound will produce an edge equivalent to 60,000 grit.

This set includes a 12 inch x 3 inch X 1/8 inch horse butt leather strop and a 1.2 ounce bar of green chromium oxide micro fine polishing compound. Used together, this strop and compound will put a scary, wicked sharp edge on razors, knives, carving chisels, and woodworking tools.
